    A business built from scratch

    It comes from humble origins; started as a sole proprietorship growing over the years to become a family owned group of companies. Unlike those who made it through investments or by working for someone else’s company, the founder and group chairman started this business as a wholesale trader targeting middle class and low income shoppers. 85 % of the population then were public civil servants relying entirely on their monthly salaries provided by the government and living off subsidized foodstuffs. The single shop in the old city market grew to become a multi-million Libyan Dinars business with branches spreading over 9 cities covering the whole country with 22 branches in all. It grew to become a group of 10 companies by end of 2020. All businesses are operated on the Group’s owned facilities, including some owned buildings on leased land. The business that started with 12 workers in 1997 has now over 1,000 employee as of December 2020.

The group has strategic warehouses in Tripoli and Benghazi and are currently constructing a 2,700 square meters multistory shopping mall in Tripoli city.

The purpose was to have these businesses serve one another instead of subcontracting the services to third parties, thereby increasing the overall revenue. It all melts down to hard work and making intelligent decisions. Mr Moftah, the founder of Al Hayes Group, is a philanthropist who believed in making the world a better place for all by alleviating the sufferings of the poor. Therefore he strived to import quality clothing in large quantities to sell them for a small profit margin ensuring mega sales in quantity rendering everyone a winner. This way, people felt a sense of fulfilment and pride and enjoyed the shopping experience in Al Hayes shops.

The group opened offices in China and Turkey, the primary source for its products, to ensure affordable prices, faster delivery and smoother shipping.
